Ontario Shores uses an interprofessional approach to supporting each patient's overall health and wellness goals. The following clinics and disciplines are availabe to all patients. 

Clinical Nutrition

Clinical Nutrition provides hospital-wide nutrition services.  Services include planning and implementing therapeutic and special diets for inpatients and outpatients, providing group-based nutrition programs for patients and completing feeding assessments as part of the Dysphasia Management Team.

Metabolic and Weight Management
The Metabolic and Weight Management Clinic is a patient-focused program with emphasis on long-term lifestyle changes and cardiovascular risk management. An inter-professional healthcare team provides patients with specialized care and helps them to manage their physical health issues, including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Recreation Therapy
Recreation Therapy enables patients to achieve quality of life, and optimal wellbeing through meaningful experiences in recreation and leisure. Patients may choose to participate  expressive arts, crafts, music, gardening, fitness, sport, special events, excursions, and more.  

The hospital gymnasium is equipped for basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, badminton and other activities. A central games room is also available which includes a bowling alley, billiard tables, table tennis, foosball tables, and a games area. Learn more. 

Spiritual Care
Spiritual Care supports the healing process of our patients by assisting them with exploring and developing a more intimate understanding of their spiritual life. A wide a range of worship programs and services are made available to meet the diverse needs of patients. Faith Leaders from Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Indigenous Faiths and Spiritualities are available for patients to access on a regular basis. Vocational Services
Vocational Services supports patients in obtaining and maintaining competitive, community-based employment.  The goal of the program is for each individual to work as independently as possible and transition off program support once the individual is comfortable and successful. Learn more

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists help patients with skills needed for daily living. They will work with patients to identify goals and plan activities that will help them reach those goals. Such skills could include for example, cooking, cleaning, managing money and taking public transportation. They can assist with identifying equipment that may help patients, such as wheelchairs, dietary aids, schedules, or memory aids for example. 

Physiotherapy Services
The Physiotherapy Department provides services to inpatients and outpatients on referral from a physician or nurse practitioner. Our individualized treatment programs are based on the patient’s diagnosis and encourage patient involvement in planning and goal-setting. Treatments may include a supervised exercise program, education and promotion of healthy living and physical well-being.  Learn more

Dental Clinic
The Dental Clinic provides comprehensive dental care to both inpatients and outpatients in a modern, fully equipped clinic. Referrals to external dental specialists such as oral surgeons and endodontists are provided for individuals requiring specialized and complex dental care. The clinical dental hygiene program addresses the increasing number of specific periodontal diseases seen in patients suffering from mental illness.

Smoking Cessation
Ontario Shores is a Tobacco-Free Organization. The health care team is dedicated and well-trained to provide comfort measures to patients during their time at Ontario Shores. Support can include nicotine replacement treatment (NRT) and smoking cessation information. Learn more

Addictions (Concurrent Disorders)
Patients who suffer from both a mental illness and an addiction may be referred to Ontario Shores' Concurrent Disorders program.  Learn more
