Ontario Shores Announces Changes to Medical Leadership

May 28, 2015

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) has announced Dr. Ian Dawe, Physician-in-Chief is entering the final year of his five-year contract and that will mark the completion of his time at Ontario Shores.

“During the past four years, Dr. Dawe has helped significantly advance the mission of the organization,” says Barb Cooney, Chair, Board of Directors.  “He has strived to advance the quality of care across all disciplines, established new partnerships across the mental health care system and expanded our education and academic programs.”

As Physician-in-Chief, Dr. Dawe has been the organization’s chief medical professional practice leader and champion for academic development, interprofessional practice and collaborative care.

“It has been a tremendous opportunity and I have been honoured to be a part of this progressive and vibrant organization,” says Dr. Dawe.  “The highlights are many.  I have enjoyed working with our talented staff, developing new partnerships with our stakeholders and expanding the use of technology to improve access to care.  I will continue to be an active partner and supporter of the work done here and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Ontario Shores.”

Dr. Dawe has embedded our commitment to have patients and families at the centre of everything we do throughout the organization.  He has been an active clinician who genuinely practiced recovery and established a shared decision making relationship with the service user each and every time.

“On behalf of all of us at Ontario Shores, I thank Dr. Dawe for his many contributions.  We have greatly benefitted from his leadership, exemplary clinical care and system advocacy work.  He is a tremendous ambassador for the organization and a champion for mental health,” says Karim Mamdani, President and CEO.
