Statement Regarding the Passing of Whitby-Oshawa MP Jim Flaherty

April 11, 2014
From all of us at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores)  we mourn the passing of Jim Flaherty and extend our deepest condolences to his wife Christine Elliott, and his sons Galen, Quinn and John.

The news has been a terrible shock and has left us all with a heavy heart.
Jim was always a strong advocate for his constituents at both the provincial and federal levels,  a passionate champion and an exemplary role model for us all. Despite ever increasing demands in government, Jim was always engaged in the community and accessible to this office. Jim's dedication and talents were not lost among his government parties who propelled him to the most prominent ministerial appointments. But whether he was serving as Ontario's Attorney General or the Federal Minister of Finance, Jim was always the same community-minded man that would stop and listen to anyone at events or on the street.
Jim's passing leaves us all deeply saddened, but his legacy to this community and to Canada will never be forgotten.
