System Leadership

December 15, 2014

Ontario Shores continuously advocates for a comprehensive and integrated mental health care system.  Karim Mamdani, President and CEO of Ontario Shores will carry this advocacy work forward at his two new board appointments:

Board Member – Ontario Hospital Association
Karim has joined the Ontario Hospital Association’s (OHA’s) Board of Directors to fill an identified need for mental health leadership.  The OHA is the voice of Ontario’s public hospitals.  Founded in 1924, the OHA uses advocacy, education and partnerships to build a strong, innovative and sustainable health care system for all Ontarians.

Chair – Addictions and Mental Health Ontario
Karim has been a board member of Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) since 2012 and one of its predecessor organizations since 2010 and was recently appointed Chair.  AMHO is an association that represents community-based mental health and addictions organizations across Ontario.  Having hospital representation on this board provides a valuable perspective as the organization addresses patient needs across the continuum of care to work towards a unified system.

These appointments and the representation Ontario Shores has at various local, regional and provincial boards is important for us as we advocate for a mental health care system that is accessible, coordinated, patient-centred and meets the growing needs of its communities.
