Orientation for New Students

The Student Placement Office at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) would like to thank you for selecting us as your preferred placement choice. We hope you find your experience at Ontario Shores to be both educational and rewarding.

On your first day, you will receive a brief orientation. In order to prepare you for your placement/practicum, please print the materials below and bring them with you on your first day.

The following items must be handed to the Student Placement Coordinator prior to starting your placement:
  • Student Registration Form
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (CPIC with VSS) which must be no older than one year prior to your placement start date. You should apply for your CPIC with VSS through your local police station which can take anywhere from one week to three months to obtain. You are required to present the original copy on your first day, which you will receive back.
  • Completion certificates of the nine modules
Note: Failure to hand in your CPIC will cause your placement start date to be delayed.

If you have any questions or concerns prior to or during your placement, please contact:
