Volunteers at Ontario Shores provide a vital community link for patients. They inspire hope, enhance patient self-esteem, help eliminate stigma, and improve the quality of life for patients by sharing their time, knowledge, and generous hearts. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer for a variety of reasons.

Volunteers have been providing support and friendship to patients at Ontario Shores since 1966 and contribute approximately 10,000 hours of service annually. Volunteer activities and placements are established on patient care units when requested by staff and run in partnership with Volunteer Services to enhance programming.

The research department at Ontario Shores is awesome. I've gained new knowledge in the field of research and first-hand experience in the dedication that the team has in providing the best information to all people.

I enjoy volunteering because it gives an opportunity to put a smile on patients faces and support families as they travel the Recovery Journey with their loved one. It provides a great life experience...”

Volunteering at Ontario Shores has enabled me to expand my understanding of those around me as well as to build meaningful relationships with many of those people. I have benefited from my time in the Drop-In Centre and will carry my experiences with me into my career.
