John Dick, Volunteer Tour Guide

JohnPosition: Patient Council Coordinator

Started at Ontario Shores:
1992 as volunteer and an employee since 2000

Background: 20 years’ experience in the mental health field

What interests you about being a Tour Guide? I am a former patient of Ontario Shores and one of the founding members of the Patient Council which is a committee of both in-patients and out-patients. I have been a tour guide at Ontario Shores for the past 11 years and bring a wealth of knowledge from the patient and staff. My objective in every tour is for those who visit the hospital to gain not only knowledge of the many services offered, but to engage people in conversations about mental illness in a positive manner to reduce the stigma associated with it.
