Spiritual Care
Spiritual and Religious Care Services coordinate a range of worship programs, services and guidance support to meet the needs of patients, families, staff and to ensure all religions and cultures are represented and celebrated at Ontario Shores. Staff also promote understanding and tolerance across all cultural belief systems and support patients’ spiritual and religious needs and they transition back to the community.
Christian Chaplains, Muslim Imam and Hindu Priests provide direct ministry for all patients on a regular basis. Faith Group contacts are available for all faith groups upon requests from Staff Chaplains or the Spiritual Care Staff and Ontario Shores shift managers for after-hours spiritual care.
Spiritual and Religious Care Services supports the healing process of our patients by assisting them with exploring and developing a more intimate understanding of their spiritual life.
Chaplain Support
Part-time staff Chaplains visit each Patient Care Unit for a half day or full day per week. The purpose of each visit is to minister to the spiritual and religious needs of people and help them discover their spiritual resources.
Chaplains may also help in contacting and bringing in community and spiritual leaders, communities of faith and sponsored agencies on behalf of the patients and family members while they are in the hospital.
