Neuropsychiatry Service
The Neuropsychiatry Rehabilitation Service (NPS) includes a 25-bed inpatient unit at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) that provides specialized assessment, consultation, treatment, rehabilitation and behavioural programming to individuals with a serious mental illness, a brain disorder and associated behavioural challenges. NPS uses a holistic approach to providing care, and the staff firmly believe that the recovery potential of the patients is the cornerstone of this unique and specialized program.
Services include:
Specialized interprofessional assessments
Diagnostic clarification
Medication review
Behavioural interventions
Life-skills training
Individual and group therapy
Therapeutic recreation
Vocational planning
Family support, education and consultation
Inclusion of community partners in planning and treatment
Discharge planning and community reintegration support
Eligibility:
Individuals between 18 and 65 years old who have a serious mental illness and a brain disorder with associated challenging behaviours.
How to access this service
Referrals are accepted from healthcare professionals, or individuals with mental illness. All referrals are welcome. Referrals are accepted from outside
