Individuals with mental illness are referred to Ontario Shores through a variety of ways including family doctors, hospitals, self or family referrals and through the court system. Once a person is assessed they may be placed in an inpatient unit. Inpatients work in partnership with an interprofessional treatment team to develop individualized recovery plans suited to their goals, strengths and abilities, to return to the community at an optimal level of well-being. A patient’s journey to recovery begins upon admission.  They work their way through the recovery plan with the purpose of returning to the community at an optimal level of well-being. Inpatients benefit from a recovery-oriented model of care supported by evidence-based best practices. They also have access to amenities such as food services, recreational facilities and medical services as well as educational, life-skills and vocational opportunities. Staff at Ontario Shores are dedicated to providing quality care in a safe and supportive environment.
