Volunteer Association
The Volunteer Association of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is a registered charitable organization whose purpose is to raise funds and provide registered volunteers to enhance treatment programs in the hospital and the community.
All new volunteers are automatically part of the Ontario Shores Volunteer Association.
Building on a long rich tradition, the volunteers at Ontario Shores inspire hope, enhance self-esteem and improve the quality of life for individuals dealing with mental health issues. We provide a link to the community to eliminate stigma and break down barriers.
Volunteers are widely recognized and respected ambassadors of mental health, continuing to create new opportunities for our patients and to achieve great acceptance of mental illness in the community.
The Association is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. The remaining Board members consist of registered volunteers who are interested in providing a community or patient and family perspective to the Association. Its purpose is to carry out such activities as deemed appropriate by the Association Board.
The Volunteer Association Board of Directors plans and implements fundraising events and activities to ensure that a sufficient pool of funds is available to meet approved requests from patient programs.
All volunteers are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting each spring and to assist with and participate in the many fundraising activities and special events that are organized throughout the year. Monthly Board meetings are open to all volunteers interested in attending.
