The Central East Local Health Integration Network Diabetes Measureable Outcomes Project.
PI:
David McNeill
CI: Jason Moores
This project is developing and implementing a standardized tool and process to measure and collect qualitative and quantitative data for Diabetes Education Centre (DEC) clients within the Central East LHIN. This tool and subsequent data provides the DECs with a better understanding of patient data related to identified outcomes. It encourages the best practices in these areas and facilitates information sharing amongst DECs. This project is preparing DECs in the Central East LHIN for the eventual rollout of the provincial Diabetes Registry and eHealth program.
Clinicians' attitudes regarding the implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) at a tertiary care mental health center.
PI: Nina Joshi CI: Ilan Fischler and J. Percival
This research is developing a change process model to ensure the successful implementation and acceptance of an electronic health record (EHR) at a tertiary-care health center. To determine its effectiveness, pre/post surveys are being conducted to assess the attitudes of healthcare professionals, such as physicians, clinicians, nurses and allied health, at various stages of the planning and implementation process. Furthermore, current and future state models representing technology use and process flow of all units are being created by observational studies. Educational sessions are created to discuss issues that are identified in survey results in order to bring acceptance and the successful implementation of the EHR.
An evaluation of the SMG E-learning Crisis Intervention Training Course for staff working in hospitals, community agencies and school boards.
PI: Sanaz Riahi CI: Inge Secor
The main objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a new online course that was recently developed by Safe Management Group Inc. to provide crisis intervention training to staff within mental health centers. Live courses have been provided for 15 years, and at Ontario Shores for two years, to staff that work in settings where client violence can cause injuries. The training is organized into two sections of knowledge and skills to prevent violence but also to de-escalate violence once it has occurred. Live courses involve training for physical self-defense and physical containment techniques so it is therefore necessary to evaluate this new online educational method.
